✴︎ABOUT✴︎
Hi there.
I'm Vannysha—an Indonesian illustrator based in Cambridge, UK.
Painterly + dreamy but lively + stylish yet nostalgic = seems like a tall order, but honestly? That’s my sweet spot.

I grew up on the island of Java. I moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2017 to study Communication Design at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
My design background gave me a keen eye for compositions—the key to creating interesting, unforgettable images.
In Canada, I fell in love with picturebooks and all the beautiful art that's coming out from this field.
I was (am) so in love with children's book illustration that I decided to move countries—again—and study it for my Master's degree at Cambridge School of Art. I graduated in 2025 and since then I've had the honour of receiving several awards for my work, including:
✴︎
The Sebastian Walker Award for Illustration 2025
V&A Illustration Awards 2026, Winner
Macmillan Prize for Illustration 2026, Highly-Commended
Paper Bird and Thames & Hudson Illustration Awards 2026, Shortlist
Batsford Prize 2025, Runner-up
Communication Arts Illustration Awards 2025 & 2026, Shortlist

My work has also been exhibited at the V&A South Kensington, the Batsford Gallery in London, and the Moores Building Artspace in Fremantle, Western Australia.

Rewatching Veronica Mars, listening to podcasts (actually this one I do while I'm illustrating, my favs: Radiolab, Conan O'Brien, Armchair Expert, anything with my queen Brené Brown), browsing the M&S snack aisle.
